ALFRED LALARA
Paul Johnstone Gallery in conjunction with Anindilyakwa Arts are proud to present Alfred Lalara - the last of the dash painters. Alfred Lalara is a talented contemporary Groote Eylandt artist – one of the few who paint traditional Groote Eylandt linework. His acrylic paintings capture some of the compositional patterns of the old style as well as the Bara and Mamarika winds - stories passed down from his father.
Anindilyakwa Arts & Cultural Centre is owned by the Anindilyakwa people of Groote Eylandt and was established in 2005 for the preservation of Groote Eylandt Arts and Culture.
Groote Eylandt is situated in the Gulf of Carpentaria, Northern Territory.
Opens September 02 and concludes September 22
