A recent finalist in the prestigious Glover Prize, Gaye Coyne continues her dialogue with nature; her constant muse and guide. Her series of paintings of sunsets, sunrises and cloud formations, excite the senses with a striking use of colour and organic forms that show another way of seeing our magnificent sunsets and sunrises. They are thoughtful paintings that reward time spent looking.
Gaye’s harmonic paintings also explore the acts of paying attention, memory and looking - often in a double action such as Looking up : Looking out. The art of looking rather than seeing: Seeing and perceptions come later through intuitive painting. In striving to paint an equivalence of her emotional response to what she has seen Gaye has brought together a painterly approach combined with expressive flat organic forms.
